NOAH Conference – ‘We Are One Health’

On Friday 4th October, World Animal Day, Jennie Jones attended ‘We are one health’ a conference organised by NOAH and held at the Royal College of Physicians at Regents Park.

The National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) – represents the UK animal health industry and promotes the benefits of safe, effective, quality products and services for the health and welfare of animals. Nockolds was appointed earlier this year as the Secretary to the NOAH Code of Practice Committee which oversees the promotion of animal medicines in line with the voluntary Code.

The theme of the event, One Health, brought together expert speakers who shared their knowledge and opened the floor to debate and discussion. The morning was chaired by Gwyn Jones, Chair of RUMA and AHDB Board member. Speakers included:

Professor Pete Borriello, Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Ward, Business Unit Director, World Panel Division, Dr Sheuli Porkess, Deputy Chief Scientific Officer, ABPI and Carel du Marchie Sarvaas, Executive Director, HealthforAnimals presented at the event exploring how the One Health vision can be achieved.

‘One Health provides a focus for cross sector collaboration, working and learning across human and animal healthcare, and widening our understanding enables the team to provide more insightful ADR support to the Committee and NOAH members. With all our ADR services, combining our ADR expertise with an understanding of the sectors, means we can be increasingly effective and ensure ADR has a positive impact on standards of practice and relationships within the sector.’

The conference was followed by the first NOAH formal lunch where Professor Jim Al-Khalili OBE, the British theoretical physicist, president of the British Science Association, author and broadcaster attended.

On behalf of Jennie and the Nockolds ADR team, we would like to thank the organisers of the event for an interesting, thought provoking and enjoyable day.
